Depuis longtemps, et le long de toutes les régions côtières du monde, le pêcheur fait un métier méconnu, pénible, exposé aux intempéries et l’humidité, aux lourdes charges et aux dangers de la mer ; une activité nécessitant beaucoup de courage, avec l’incertitude de vivre correctement de ses prises.

La marque « Café du vieux Pêcheur » est une vieille marque de café de la Manche (50), en Normandie. Son histoire commence en 1924 à Carteret  sous la  marque « café Chantereyne ».

En 1936, l’entreprise s’installe à Cherbourg et change le nom de la marque avec « Café du Vieux Pêcheur » elle illustre ses paquets avec la reproduction d’un tableau d’un vieux pêcheur posant dans le port de Cherbourg.

Dès lors, la marque se développe fortement et s’implante dans les épiceries, supermarchés, bars et restaurants de la région.

Elle dispose d’un capital de reconnaissance et de sympathie dans toute la région et est reconnue pour ses excellents cafés.

La marque s’arrête au début des années 2000, et est relancée en 2020 par MAPALGA qui décide alors de transformer la gamme et l’identité visuelle, tout en conservant son esprit d’origine et en perpétuant un savoir-faire et la qualité de ses produits.
